Two Gallants

TWO GALLANTS
" You can try but there ain't no use, I'll lose it if you cut me loose. Darlin' please don't hesitate, can I get you now or must I wait? I can feel mu patience running thin, I stare at the walls walk the floor, but somehow end up at your door" My Love Won't Wait

Yes, I lied, I know them since January, but it's still recent so let's make it work.
Two Gallant are a duo from San Francisco, Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel. I first heard of them thanks to an interview with a french record label, and I fell in love as soon as I heard the first notes of "Seems Like Home To Me". There are some pitchs here and there, and that's what make it special. Because they totally go with the song, it's not disturbing at all, it makes it more real. And the guitar is just breathe taking in acoustic. I'm totally in love. Plus the lyrics are getting me. This is a great band , I don't know what else to say to convince you of listening. You'll miss something out is you just ignore them, really. They are one of my biggest crushes of 2014 and I'm glad to count myself as their fans!

Usual stuff to know more about them and their music : Their Facebook page HERE, personal site THERE and you can buy their album "The Bloom And The Blight" on Itunes HERE for less than 10 dollars! (Did you get the words games? I DID!)

And now, the biggest/important/best part, the videos! I hope you'll enjoy as much as I do! :

Parachute

PARACHUTE
"You were that speed train, and you were still on the run. Yeah, you would crash right in, and then you'd just move along. Oh, I know that it haunts me, wishing you could just stay" Meant To Be

I think most of you already know Parachute, but that won't prevent me from doing an article, because I just love them. I've known them since "She Is Love", which is quite a long time, like 4 ou 5 years maybe. That song went straight through my teenager heart at that time, and still today. Made me feel loved!
I am so proud of them for still being together after years of Parachute. This may or may not last, so let's enjoy while we can! They toured with The Cab, The Goo Goo Dolls and Plain White T's, those names should ring a bell, yes?

Anyway, I won't talk much, because I've done a review of "Overnight" when it came out, and I'll just post it here so you guys can know what I think about them.

But before, business & communication, as always! : Their Facebook page is HERE. They are constantly posting pictures and messages to theirs fans, which is wicked, so you can enjoy some weird/fun/WTF facts and pictures with the boys.
Second, "Overnight" on Itunes, and you should because it worths it!

Now, the usual videos, then the review just below if you have time to spend on reading someone's opinion on something! :

"Can't Help"

REVIEW
Not a long time ago, the amazing band Parachute came with a new album, Overnight. They left us in 2011 with "The Way It Was", which had great reviews. Fans and medias expected a lot from this band who keep proving their talent a little more each day. We had some expectations from this album. We were worried that they won't be able to be better, maybe "The Way It Was" was their own top. Well, let's apologize to the band, because, if you listened to that record, you can not say it was not their best. Because it clearly is.
Before the album came out, we had the chance to hear one song, Hearts Go Crazy. Which is not on the album, btw. First listening : What the Frack?! Is this really Parachute, or what ? Yes, this was my first reaction. Because I couldn't recognize the band from that song. This is no longer pop, but more electro, much much more electro. I didn't expect that. It sounded like a pop Cobra Starship. The reactions to Hearts Go Crazy were reserved. Some people liked the new "style", others regret the old already. But when we listen again and again, we can still hear Parachute. This may only last for a few seconds, but still. For example, they like to make two members sing : We can find that in HGC. And the pop is still here in the second verse, with the electric guitar in the background. I liked Hearts Go Crazy, but I hoped the whole album will still be pop, because one song is okay, 10 is too much.
Then Overnight came out. It has 12 songs in it. I remember having chills just by buying it, but I was also affraid, affraid to be disappointed.
1: Meant To Be. My fear came true. Even if this is not as electro as HGC, the sound is still different.  I enjoy listenening to this first song, but this is not my favourite, at all.
2:  Can't Help. The first sounds I heard made me think of one song, Bounce, from The Cab. This is crazy because the begining may sounds alike, but not really. Just a bit. This is one of my favourite song of the album. Can't explain why, but the lyrics are catchy, it stayed in my head for like a week. It has something special that make the song ... well, special.
3: Drive You Home. This song makes me think of Boys Like Girls. I think they could also have written it. DYH is an amazing song. The chorus is catchy and emotional. I felt so much emotions listening to this! The little "Oveeeer" at the end of the chorus kills me everytime I hear it. The band did an incredible job with the music. In all the album, of course, but in that song particularly. There is not word to describe how this song is perfection.
4. Hurricane. Chills. Chills, chills. Hurricane makes us forget Forever And Always from the last record, The Way It Was. Will Anderson's voice in this song is breathe taking. The lyrics are tatooed on my heart. It feels like I lived the story they are telling. This is definitely my favourite song of the album. Too much perfection for my little heart.
5. Overnight. Not my favourite. I can't help but shout all the lyrics with Will everytime I hear it.Everybody says that I should just forget, the hardest part is over with, but it's all dark and I can't see the light. I clap in my hands and shout. It sounds a lot like the old Parachute which I like, but I am not complaining about the new one.
If you listen carefully, you realise that the more the song are playing, the more we can hear the old Parachute!
6. Didn't See It Coming. Ok, let's be honest, the rap part at the begining is perfect,  just before Will who sings quite high, which is more perfect, if possible. The music makes me smile, its a joyful one. Not heartbreaking or breathe taking, but I needed that simple song.
I will let your hear the last ones, The Other Side, Waiting For That Call, The Only One, Disappear, Higher and Hurricane (acoustic version).
As a conclusion, Overnight is the proof that Parachute can still evolve and be better than last time. They show us their talent for about 45 minutes of heaven. For those who don't know that band, I really am encouraging you to go to Youtube and listen to any song you want, then buy their albums if you fell in love with them, like me. The only negative point I would say is, not the apparition of an electro sound, but the loss of the saxophone sound.

Nevertheless

NEVERTHELESS
"We avoid the topics, we made the kids have secrets. When they are exposed, and everyone else knows. We say we never knew it, that they had a problem, cause if we would have known, we surely would have solved it, but we can't, because it's too late" Topics

I don't have much to say about Nevertheless, to be honest. I don't know how or for what reason, but I just remembered one song of them, "Topics". I first heard it I think I was 15-16 years old, and it made me cry like a baby every f*cking time I heard it, because the lyrics are touching and true, and beautiful, in a hurtful way.

So if you are having a bad day, it may not be the best idea to listen to that song. As much as it is beautiful, it won't make you feel better.

"Topics"

Wakey! Wakey!

Wakey! Wakey!
"And I will try to get you up because it's beautiful outside. And we'll fall, we'll try, and do our best. And I love you all the while, because you saved ma life once" Light Outside

So, as many of you, probably, I've known Wakey! Wakey! thanks to One Tree Hill, when he sang "Dance So Good". I remember hating the girl he sang for, because I wanted someone to sing me that kind of song. But nope, it's only in TVshows or movies, sadly.

Whatever. When I learnt he actually had a band, I bought the album "Almost Everythind I Wish I'd Said The Last Time I Saw You...". Not long enough, right? Well, this EP is gold. Like, HELLO, every single song is amazingly played AND sang, and each of them makes me feel something in my heart. Joy, fear, sadness, romantism, I've gone through all the phases with this album, and God knows there are not many bands/artists that can do it.

So, if you watched One Tree Hill but didn't know Grubbs (I think) was also Wakey! Wakey!, YOU'RE WELCOME (Yes, Awkward is back, sorry). If you already knew, well it's always good to remember good music, right?

NOW let's get to business and communication Facebook page, then he has a new EP called Irresistible right THERE for less than 5 dollars. It's a great deal, c'mon, let's support the scene! I just did!

Below, as usual, some videos !

This Wild Life

This Wild Life
"Well is it all slipping away from me, I can't be anything you want me to be.  My heart is heavy and it keeps me to the ground, my eyes are swollen cause I can't have you enough" Ripped Away

Too many things to say about this band/duo. It's been a year since I first heard of them, and dear lord, I can't get enough of them.

Once again, thanks you Twitter. Anthony Del Grosso, the guitarist of TWL, sent me a DM with a link to their Youtube page and I fell in love right away. Couldn't do otherwise, really. "Ripped away" is just heaven, "Pink Tie" is so perfect I can't help but sing the lyrics while crying. This is one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard from any band. "So Much Potential" is a nice ballad, "Puppy Love" is a beautiful love song. I love the whistlings and the fact that they are both singing on the chorus.
They also do covers that are amazingly great, sometimes even better than the originals.

The thing that I love the most in their videos is that they are moving in perfect synchronisation, which is funny and really shows their connexion at the same time.

To conclude, I love This Wild Life, and I really hope you do too after this article, because they may be two of the most talented persons I've ever heard. And it's a duo, which is less common. And they truly are very kind towards fans, and I hope they'll have more and more tomorrow, and the next days.

PS: They just signed to EPIPATH RECORDS, which is SUPERB! I'm so proud of them, this is the begining of a long and beautiful journey that will last forever and ever.
PLUS they'll be doing ALL VANS WARPED TOUR DATES so USA people, go grab your tickets if not already!

Now, let's get to business:  You can check their Facebook page or their Website if you want to know more, or see if they come next to your home.
Their EP "Heart Flip" available on Itunes HERE for only 7.92 dollars! So you go buy it right away, please.

Now, let's get to the videos, would you? :

Hawthorne Heights

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS
" Slow things down or speed them up, not enough or way too much. How are you when I'm gone?" Ohio Is For Lovers

Alright, I don't even know where to begin. I -re- discovered that band  a few minutes ago, and it was to best moment of the week. Hearing "Ohio Is For Lovers" years after is so... powerful. I remember I listened to that song when I was on a trip to Columbus with my school. Columbus -> Ohio, so yeah, that makes sense.

I can't explain or anything, but I've always felt there is something special, different about them. Haven't you felt that with a band?

Of course, no one can forget Casey Calvert, former guitarist and singer/screamer, who died in his sleep on November, 24, 2007, while the band was on tour. Never forget. I find it very brave and amazing that the band did not split up and kept on living their dreams, in memory of Casey.

I loved them from the first time I heard them, and now I just saw they released a new album in 2013, "Zero", that I bought right away HERE for only 9 euros, and they will be releasing "The Silence In Black And White" acoustic! All that to celebrate the album's 10 year anniversary. Oh, sorry, yes, you read well, 10 F*CKING YEARS, this is crazy, this is amazing, I'm so excited!
Anyway, this acoustic record will be out April, 15 on Itunes, May, 20 on CD et June, 24 on Vinyl. All that via the site InVogue Record
You can also check out their Facebook page, to check up with their tour dates or anything else.

Below, you'll find some of their numerous and amazing songs :

"Ohio Is For Lovers"

DIAMOND DAYS
"Listen to these words I have to say, before it gets too late. Where have you been? Where are you running to? The time is getting closer, now it's time to go" Home

Ok, I lied, I first heard of them in March, I admit.

Most of the time, Twitter is a great way to meet some bands. WELL, this is where I met Diamond Days, thanks to Tom Sheperd, guitarist of the band, and very nice person. 4 british boys, can't be anything but interesting!

"Well, you may be the trigger, I will hold the smoking gun. You'll get away clean, I'll keep your secrets 'til the grave swallowed me" Thick As Thieves

If I remember well, this was one of my favourite band during my teenage years. I can't remember how I first heard them, I think someone made me listen to "Thick As Thieves" so thank you to that person.

It's been a few years I haven't check up on them and unfortunately, if I understand well, they broke up, or are on hiatus, because on their Facebook page, they keep posting about another band, Twin Forks Music.

ANYWAY, to remember the good years, here are some video clips they made, for their awesome songs. I'll miss you, Dashboard Confessional.

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!
" Can you imagine everything you can do with your team. You have never felt so strong, all your guys sing along. A melody that means everything to you and to me" In Friends We Trust

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Maybe you have heard of them already, they are quite famous in Europe and North America. And Asia, and more. For the 1st time ever, I'm so proud that a French band is known overseas!

As I usually say, it's still not my type of music, more pop punk, metal/hardcore. But they have something special. And they exist since 2007, that makes me prouder and prouder, and again. I've know them with their old album "Something for nothing", because one of my friend, The Earl Grey, is featured on the song "For All We Know". Then, "Pardon My French" came out last year. I bought it as soon as it was released, and it was brillantly, amazingly perfect. I so love this band, this is crazy. They are young, and we can see from hundreds of kilometers that they enjoy every single minute. They are shining so bright!

I've never had the chance to see them live yet, mostly because they don't play often in France. But they'll be on the Warped Tour, if you guys are in the US.

You can go to their Facebook page for information about their whereabouts on, and you can buy "Pardon My French" on Itunes HERE. Please buy it to support the French scene, but also because you'll love them!

Below, some clips, mixing songs from "Something For Nothing" & "Pardon My French" :

"In Friends We Trust"

"Haters Gonna Hate"

"Taking Chances" (Huge crush)

"Captain Blood"

Augustana

AUGUSTANA
" Am I reaching out for something that I can't grab, something infinitely splitting into two halves? Is there something I forgot that I can't remember?" Ash And Ember

Before saying anything, here's the new Augustana's song , "Ash & Ember", which is amazing. First, it was posted on my birthday, on the 4th of march, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Then, for his return, he nailed it. Cannot wait to hear the new album, "Life Imitating Life", out April, 22nd.

"Ash And Ember"

Oh, Augustana. For how many years have I listen to you? (It was a band, then a solo artist, I'm kinda lost).
Mostly on my dark times, when I felt down, because, well, it was not very happy songs, but so amazing, so talented that you cannot stop listening. The lyrics get me, under my skin, into my heart. I love him, his voice is beautiful, his music inspiring. I've been here for 5 or 6 years now, more or less, and I am so happy of his come back. I can't wait to hear his new work!

If you're interested in the guy, in his music or anything involving Augustana, you can check the Facebook page, and the website. You can pre order "Life Imatating Life" on the site with some bundles if you want, but the shipping is quite expensive for anyone outside the US.

Below, some old songs from Augustana :

Our Last Night

OUR LAST NIGHT
"I've been wishing upon a star, if my universe falls apart. I feel so far from the sky, as my dreams are going by" Same Old War

Ok, guys, this time is the big deal. We're talking OUR LAST NIGHT. I've known them for a few months now, thanks to the amazing site BUZZNET. Since then, I can't stop falling in love every time I listen to them. I bought their album"Oak Island", which I command you to order because this is gold. And they also have others albums too, that need to be more recognize.

As for some other bands, they are not my type of music at all. It's kinda post-hardcore, a bit like Chiodos actually, but with less screaming. I really, really, really think you're gonna like them if you don't already.

I saw them live in Paris (they are touring across so world, and this is amazingly perfection), and dear lord, it was worth the 5 hours of train, and the cold, and the broken ears. They were incredible, very nice, they made the public participated. Trevor and Matt (BROTHERS) sing so, so, so well, even better than in studio if possible.

They exist since 2004, since they were teenagers guys, and they are still together TODAY! Ain't that a proof of their talent?

Oh, and yes, they are also doing amazing covers of amazing songs. You should definitely check out, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

Now, if you're interested, you can go to their Facebook page, and they all are on Twitter also. They are coming to Canada soon, and they'll be playing with CHIODOS on the 16th of April in North America!

You can also buy "Oak Island" on Itunes HERE  for about 6 dollars!

There are so many songs I love of them, but below, you'll find some of them. THEN, below those clips, there will be some of their covers I love.

It's been a while since I've listened to Sparks The Rescue, and I blame myself. I forgot they were that good. Naïve high school me who forgets every great band she listened to at that time.
4 talented boys from Portland, pop/rock, who are slowly rising to the top. They deserve more attention, so here's a post about them.

You can check  them on Twitter  & Facebook
